Centre
for Science Studies of the Estonian University of Life Sciences was
established in June 2005 with the aim of advancing scientific
investigations in Estonia in history and philosophy of sciences as well
as science policies. The Centre was created on the basis of a museum of
the great naturalist of the 19th century Karl Ernst von Baer. The
museum was founded in 1976 in a historic Baer House.
The
first task of the Centre for Science Studies was establishment of an
Internet-based bibliography of the K. E. v. Baer’s scientific works.
Further on the Centre’s research agenda has expanded and its current
research encompasses studies of history and policies of both natural
and social sciences.
